Well, we made it 42 days and 400 miles, but the trail has been deemed impassable for us. The snow drifts on the rideglines were 4 feet deep walls with the rest of the trail about knee deep. It was difficult navigating since everything was frosted white. We've been dealing with winter storms since the first of December and there is more to come. We are grateful for our new found friend "Paul Bunion" who has welcomed us to his home in Atlanta, Georgia, after meeting on the trail. It's bee...Read Full Post »

The Winter is hard and we are trying to find the best way to move south. The snow has been falling for 6 days now. Sometimes i think back about the bike and how easy it is compared to this trip. We are moving at the pace of about 10 miles a day and that seems to fit us. This afternoon we arrived in Boone NC, and are waiting for some gear to come in the mail. For the the next few days this will be home for us. We hope everyone is having a wonderful winter and are having as much fun and l...Read Full Post »

We've been riding the waves of life but moving forward with a new goal. We are sending our bikes ahead to Tampa, Fl. and we will be departing November 15th via the Appalachian Trail South from here and linking the AT to the Florida Trail into Tampa. We suspect it will take approximately 5 months to complete. There are only a few things we need to obtain to be more prepared for the winter hike. The anticipation has been growing more intense with every passing day.
Once we arrive in Tampa...Read Full Post »

Some people have this idea that thoughts of change can in itself manifest into a positive reality. We can meditate on ideas of peace and harmony all we want, but remember your human form. Life is movement. Push past your own limitations, think outside of your own needs and be amazed. I believe the "collective consciousness" is only a part of the solution that will come naturally once we become aware of the destruction that is happening all around us and make decisions on wh...Read Full Post »

As we were packing up to leave the town of Roanoke, the Universe enfolded an opportunity to embark on possibly one of the greatest accomplishments of a lifetime. In the past week we have been volunteering at Grandin Gardens We've been working as Grounds Managers for the community gardens and starting a nonprofit coffee shop called The Bee Box. Grandin Gardens is a not for profit organization that educates on and builds self- sufficient and sustainable "green" eco-villages in both ru...Read Full Post »

We are currently in Roanoke, Virginia. We've been helping out at a great bike shop called Cyclo Ward located downtown. And are staying with a really nice family that has let us pitch camp in their backyard. This town has alot of helpful resources that we are taking full advantage of. We'll be back on the road in a few days. Meanwhile we're going to enjoy the artwalk and free enterrainment this weekend in town. We'll have some more pictures updated soon. love, love!Read Full Post »

We've made it to the beautiful mountains of Appalachia! It's been a great ride through the Smokies on the Blue Ridge Parkway. We had to get our bikes re-outfitted in Asheville. Much thanks to the guys at BioWheels for hooking us up. Also to Megan and Bryan for giving us a place to stay and hanging out with us. We'll be back on the Parkway today to the beginning of Skyline Drive in Virginia. The pictures don't give it justice for how beautiful it is here but I hope you enjoy them as much as we...Read Full Post »

We are resting for a good ride ahead of us. Now just north of Augusta GA., we are looking towards the climbs ahead. Jenna, Al and myself are doing fine, we are now just looking forward to working in Tennessee and North carolina for some new gear.
